The Hunter Valley is renowned for its unique style of aged Semillon. Made in the traditional Hunter method this aged Semillon displays subtle hints of toast and honey coupled with fresh lemon and lime characters.
We planted a small block of 3.5 acres of Shiraz and 1.5 acres of Touriga Nacional at our Lovedale Road vineyard in 2008. This was a pure experiment in trying to produce an elegant Hunter Shiraz (80%), that with the addition of a small amount of Touriga (20%) would lift the aroma and add complexity to the wine.
The historic Steven vineyard was planted in 1968. Ever since the red volcanic soils have produced some of the Hunter Valley’s most outstanding wines. This 2018 vintage is a classic Hunter Valley shiraz, with great fruit, spice and elegance. A medium bodied shiraz that will drink well as a young wine but will reward those patient enough to stash it away for another 10 years.
Located on Talga Road in Rothbury, this relatively young vineyard has been a consistent performer for us here over the last few years. Producing quite full bodied Hunter Shiraz that has incredible depth of colour and flavour, this outstanding wine from the 2018 vintage should last for decades.
Sourced from the sandy creek flats of central Pokolbin. This unique vineyard has produced a classic Hunter Valley Semillon. The fruit was hand picked in 2019 prior to being gently whole bunch pressed to tank before a slow cool fermentation. In its youth this wine displays subtle citrus fruits, with a hint of jasmine and fresh ginger. The natural acidity will hold this wine in good stead for the future, and should drink well for the coming 10+ years.
